Aislinn Labra-Arteaga,Spartanburg

Aislinn often volunteered in her local community to help others in addition to being an excellent student. Through Spanish IV Honors, she became a fluent reader and writer in Spanish in addition to English. During the weekends, she studied at Spartanburg County Criminal Justice Youth Institute. She is attending Lander University.

Richard Sealy, Blacksburg

 He served as a teacher cadet and a leader on the soccer and football teams. Richard also worked at a part-time job in addition to volunteering with the church. He is originally from Ghana, Africa and found his way to the United States through adoption in the 6th grade. He is currently a student at Limestone College.

North Carolina Winner

Lisseth pleitez, salisbury

Lisseth came to the United States in 7th grade with limited schooling in her home country of El Salvador.  She overcame this challenge and even got to the point where she could help newcomers in her school.  She went out of her way to assist Spanish-speaking students, even if they weren't in her classes.  She is attending Rowan Cabarrus Community College.

Man Nguyen, Charlotte
Man arrived in the United States at the beginning of her junior year.  Despite being the top student in her school in Vietnam, she came here with limited English and struggled at first. During her senior year in US schools, she was enrolled in AP English.  She is currently a student at Queens University at Charlotte.
